Brittany is the owner and operator of Lakeside Massage Therapy, which she founded in 2017. She has been massaging in the Westshore area since 2010, after completing the Registered Massage Therapy program at WCCMT in Victoria.

Since then, she has been gaining experience and knowledge in both a clinic and spa setting. She had the pleasure of working at one of Victoria’s top spas where she gained valuable skills in her practice. Brittany customizes her massages to address her client’s specific needs and goals. She treats each client according to how their body responds most comfortably to the depth of pressure, and techniques used. She uses a combination of Swedish and deep tissue techniques to create a therapeutic and relaxing experience.

Whether addressing specific injuries, chronic pain, or work-related muscle tension, she restores balance and overall wellbeing in a safe, effective manner. Brittany strongly believes that relaxation for the body and mind plays a crucial part in decreasing the sympathetic nervous system to start the healing process. Kelsey Renwick, RMT

Since graduating from Victoria’s West Coast College of Massage Therapy in 2014, Kelsey has worked in a variety of clinic and spa settings. These positions have granted her the opportunity to treat a diverse group of patients including prenatal through postpartum, athletes, repetitive strain injuries, neurological conditions, and chronic pain.

Kelsey’s technique is therapeutic yet relaxing; she tends to focus on preventative and maintenance care for her clients by using myofascial release, general swedish techniques, trigger point therapy, pain and stress relief, as well as active and passive modalities. She has developed an interest in myofascial release techniques and tries to incorporate these techniques into each treatment depending on the individuals’ needs. Kelsey strives to provide each client with a personalized treatment that will help them achieve their therapeutic goals and maintain their overall health. She looks forward to meeting you!

 

Liz Kerr, RAc, RMT

Liz is a Registered Acupuncturist and a Registered Massage Therapist. She has been practicing in the complementary health care field since 2007 where she began her career as an RMT. She continued her education in health and wellness by graduating with Honours from the Acupuncture program at Pacific Rim College in 2014. Liz’s Acupuncture practice includes the use of Traditional Chinese Medicine techniques such as needling, cupping, gua sha (skin scraping), Tui Na (Chinese massage), electric stimulation and TCM diet therapy. Liz treats a wide range of conditions including but not limited to chronic pain management, mental health such as stress, anxiety, post traumatic stress, depression and addictions, women’s health, pre and post natal care, digestive issues, allergy relief and immune support.

Liz loves to work with those who are looking to better their quality of life. She aligns her practice with the definition of health from the World Health Organization “Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.” She strives to meet all angles of the definition with each treatment so that patients are able to achieve happiness and health in body, mind and spirit.

 

Emily Kersey, RMT

Emily Kersey is a holistic, therapeutic Massage Therapist with a background in Ayurvedic and Thai Massage. She graduated from Pacific Rim College in 2013 with a diploma in Eastern Therapy Bodywork and from the Canadian College of Massage & Hydrotherapy to become an RMT in 2016. While her techniques stay within the scope of RMT standards, her massage is inspired by Eastern principles. There is some cross over with pressure points, stretches, hydrotherapy and essential oils (when applicable).

While studying massage Emily treated individuals with autoimmune conditions, peaking her interest in relaxation massage for chronic pain management. Emily spent the first two years of her RMT career working primarily with MVA’s for whiplash and associated issues. Emily can also offer intra-oral massage for TMJ issues, if that is indicated for your treatment.

Home-care suggestions given to clients reflect Emily’s Yoga Therapy and Yin Yoga teaching background. She strives for clients to become more aware of their body mechanics to reduce pain, and to find approachable ways to bring self-care into each day.

Emily practices Neuromuscular Therapy, Myofascial Release, TMJ work, Hydro Therapy, Trigger Point Release, Muscle Energy Technique, and Lymphatic Drainage.

 

Deidra Corbeil, RMT

Deidra graduated from the West Coast College of Massage Therapy in 2011, in Victoria, BC. Before that, she had already established a relationship with bodywork and practiced as a certified Shiatsu Therapist at various spas and wellness centres in Vancouver and Nelson.

Since the beginning of her training in shiatsu, Deidra always felt that she was on the right path and doing what she was meant to do. This feeling has only intensified throughout her career as an RMT. Deidra believes in finding balance within the body and encourages a state of relaxation with every treatment. Her touch can be described as thoughtful and intuitive. During a treatment she combines her calming presence with a focused touch to help relieve her clients of pain, tension and general stress. She draws upon various techniques- like general swedish, myofascial, and trigger point release to most effectively meet their individualized needs. When not in the clinic, Deidra can be found playing in nature with friends and family.

 

Shawna Heavenor, RMT

Shawna graduated from the West Coast College of Massage Therapy in 2014, in Victoria, BC. Her keen interest in health and wellness, paired with her passion for helping others from a young age, helped her to pursue her longstanding dream of becoming a Registered Massage Therapist. Since she began practicing as an RMT, she has fallen in love with her career and looks forward to many more years of learning and growing.

Shawna has been drawn toward the massage therapy profession because of its one-on-one approach, as a way of helping people to achieve wellness and create balance in their lives. She enjoys treating all conditions as well as preventative, rehabilitative and maintenance care. Shawna’s treatment style can be described as deep and intuitive. She also believes in the benefits of maintaining a relaxing environment in order to promote stress relief. During her treatments, Shawna uses a combination of different therapeutic techniques, such as deep tissue massage, trigger point therapy, myofascial release, and general Swedish massage. She also uses active modalities when necessary, such as PNF stretching, isolytic release and therapeutic exercise to help facilitate optimal health. She will work individually with each client to build a customised treatment plan to suit any personal needs. Growing up on Vancouver Island, Shawna enjoys spending much of her time with her family and friends outdoors, camping, skiing, biking, boating on Sproat Lake and spending time at her family’s cabin on the ocean. Madison Rosene, RMT

Madison graduated from the West Coast College of Massage Therapy in Victoria, B.C. and is very excited to be a part of the Lakeside Team. From a young age Madison knew she wanted a career that allowed her to connect with and help others.

Elyse Murphy, Certified Reflexologist

Elyse is a Certified Reflexologist and Body Worker. Elyse grew up in Victoria BC. She moved to Vancouver in 2001 to pursue her passion in the holistic approach to health and well being. She completed her Spa Therapy program in 2003 and worked at one of the top Spa’s in Victoria for 15 years specializing in relaxation massage.

During that time Elyse was drawn to Reflexology and its ability to help our bodies return to a state of homeostasis and heal itself as it is meant to. Elyse believes it is so important to be proactive with our health and well being, instead of reactive. She graduated from the Canadian Reflexology School in 2015 and now focuses her practice on Foot Reflexology. She is passionate about helping others gain balance within all their body systems using a calming, intuitive and restorative approach.

 

Cora Newsome, RAC

Cora graduated as a Registered Acupuncturist after studying Traditional Chinese Medicine at Pacific Rim College.
Cora was first introduced to acupuncture at age 20 after coming to it, as many people do, as a last resort for an injury. As she continued treatment she quickly realized it was helping her in more areas of her life than just her knee injury. She quickly indulged herself in all things Chinese Medicine and continued to study in her spare time eventually becoming a dedicated full time student.

Cora believes healing takes time, commitment and patience. She strongly believes health is not just about curing but rather it is about preventing disease. She is devoted to her patient’s wellness and health goals and will do whatever she can to assist them on their healing journey. She believes when the body isn’t functioning at its normal capacity, when there is pain or abnormal symptoms, acupuncture can be a great tool to get the body back on course in a realistic time frame. Forever a student, Cora continues to enhance her understanding of Traditional Chinese Medicine and modern medical practices to better care for her patients.

 

Robin Hesseling, RMT

Robin graduated WCCMT Victoria in 2021. Born and raised in the Netherlands, Robin moved to Canada 12 years ago after having fallen in love with the island’s beautiful outdoorsy lifestyle. Robin is very passionate about being physically active and enjoys working out and going for hikes. He has a background in fitness and personal training, complimenting his skills as an RMT.

Nicole is a proud graduate of the Camosun College Massage Therapy program. She graduated in 2021 and has spent 2 years practicing in the Camosun student clinic and is excited to bring her knowledge and skills to Lakeside.

Nicole provides a individualized treatment to each client to achieve an effective and relaxing massage. Jessica Jarabek, RMT

Jessica has a keen interest in health and preventative care, focusing on holistic healing, nutrition and creating a sense of overall well-being to her clientele. Jessica has an extensive background in sports therapy and has trained in many different types of massage and physiotherapy, which allow her to combine different techniques to enhance the relaxation and/or therapeutic treatment results.

She has been massaging since 2004. Prior to her graduation in Canada for massage and spa therapy certifications she gained a European educated background in fitness theory, group cycling, personal training and nutrition. Jessica has taught massage in Nicaragua, worked in Europe and Maui with Tour de France professional cycling athletes and AWT/PWT windsurfers. She holds certifications with the Canadian Sports Massage Association as well as National and International licences and Certifications in both the US and Canada for massage and bodywork rehabilitation. Recently, Jessica has received her basic teacher training certification with the International Massage Association and is a participant of the World Championships in Massage. She will use this knowledge and experience to incorporate a variety of techniques to her treatments tailored specifically for each patient.

 

Vicky Falconer, RMT

Vicky grew up on Vancouver Island and graduated from the West Coast College of Massage Therapy in 2020. She believes massage therapy is a valuable tool for improving quality of life and has a passion for helping people through her chosen career. Whether that be a specific treatment to assist recovering from an injury or managing stress levels with a relaxation massage.

Vicky’s massage appointments typically entail some assessment before treatment and suggesting stretches or activities to do at home to assist with achieving clients treatment goals. She enjoys utilizing general swedish massage techniques to find muscle dysfunction and then using techniques like attachment release, pin and stretch, trigger point therapy and active modalities to maximize the full potential of each treatment. She has a firm yet relaxing pressure and approaches each clients individual needs with compassion. Although she enjoys working with headaches, chronic back and neck pain, Vicky also has a passion for TMJ work, pregnancy massage and assisting people with all kinds of general discomfort.

Keely DeCourcy, RMT

Keely is a graduate from the Humber College Massage Therapy program in Ontario. She graduated in 2022 from the three-year program that allowed her to gain hands on experience through clinical rotations and internships at the on-campus massage clinic.

Keely always knew she wanted to help others reach their wellness goals whether it be mentally or physically. She worked at a spa for 5 years and has always been a huge advocate for taking care of your body. Being able to hear first-hand accounts from patients at the spa opened her eyes to massage therapy and how it combines mental and physical wellness.

Keely aims to create a safe and comfortable space so that together she and her patients are able to reach their treatment goals. She has experience in trigger point therapy, myofascial release, joint mobilization, and various neuromuscular techniques.

Keely is excited to start her journey at Lakeside Massage Therapy, grow as a therapist, and broaden her knowledge with continuing education.
